Following our stop near Obi Obi, we decided to continue exploring the Blackall Range and drove towards Mapleton. We'd heard whispers of impressive waterfalls and scenic vistas, and, ever the curious travellers, we felt compelled to investigate.

Our destination: Mapleton Falls National Park. The drive itself was pleasant, the rolling hills and lush vegetation a welcome change from the drier landscapes of Western Australia. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the falls were the star attraction. The dramatic escarpment provides truly breathtaking views.

The viewing platform offers an uninterrupted panorama of the valley below, a tapestry of green stretching as far as the eye can see. Even on an overcast day, the scene was nothing short of spectacular. You can see why they call this the Sunshine Coast, even when the sun itself is playing hide-and-seek. The cloud cover certainly added a moody, dramatic flair to the scenery.

After soaking in the views, we took a short walk along one of the rainforest tracks. The contrast between the open vista and the enclosed, tranquil rainforest was remarkable. The air hung thick and humid, the sound of birds and rustling leaves filling our ears. The boardwalk wound its way through towering trees, their trunks draped with moss and ferns.
