Our Sunshine Coast exploration continued, with the quaint town of Kenilworth as our next port of call. The primary objective was simple: sample the delights of the famous Kenilworth Bakery. We’d heard tales of enormous doughnuts and a generally good time, and we are always up for a sweet treat.

The bakery was everything we’d hoped for and more. The selection was extensive, but the star of the show was undoubtedly the massive, cream-laden doughnut. They even had a display where folks could pose with a mock-up of the giant pastry.

Clearly, the #1kgDonutChallenge is no joke.

However, our pleasant visit took a turn. After securing our baked goods and settling into our camp, the weather decided to remind us of Queensland's less sunny side. The heavens opened. And opened. And continued to open. What started as a light drizzle quickly escalated into a torrential downpour.

We watched, somewhat helplessly, as the surrounding area became increasingly waterlogged. The creek next to our campsite quickly turned into a raging river. We were glad we had set up on slightly higher ground, though the entire area around us was drenched.

It was a soggy end to what started as a promising day, but as seasoned travelers, we know that the weather is an unpredictable companion. At least we had doughnuts.
