After the bustle of Hervey Bay, we decided to head inland. We found ourselves in Cooroy, a small town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. What struck us immediately was the quiet, almost sleepy atmosphere. It was a welcome contrast to the busier coastal areas, offering a chance to slow down and simply wander.

The town itself is centered around Maple Street. We noticed the wide streets are lined with shops and cafes. The blend of old and new architecture gave it a unique character, hinting at the town's history.

We were particularly amused by the number of real estate offices. Cooroy seems to be the place everyone is looking to move to. Who can blame them?

Walking through the town square, we came across a rather interesting water feature. It involved an upright slab of rough-hewn stone as a fountain centerpiece, surrounded by equally rustic wooden seating.

We thought it was a very creative use of natural materials, creating a tranquil little oasis.

Further exploration led us through the town center, eventually winding our way around the main intersection. We observed a distinct lack of frenetic activity. Instead, vehicles were giving way to each other with courtesy rarely seen in larger cities. There was a clear sense of community here, a relaxed pace that seeped into everything.

Even the main intersection exudes a sense of calm in Cooroy.

We made a mental note to return one day for a longer stay. Cooroy is one of those places that creeps under your skin, promising a more peaceful existence.
