Our travels brought us to Slade Point, Queensland, on a fine day in August 2018. We were in search of a bit of coastal charm, and Slade Point certainly delivered. The area is quieter than some of the more bustling coastal towns, providing a pleasant contrast to the busier spots we'd visited previously.

We started our exploration with a stroll along the waterfront.

The walking path was well-maintained, making for an easy walk as we enjoyed the views of the water. It was a perfect opportunity to stretch our legs and appreciate the peace and quiet of the location. The water was a mesmerising blue, shimmering under the bright sunlight.

Moving further along the point, we came across the marina, a hub of activity with an array of vessels docked neatly in their slips.

Among them, two sturdy tugboats caught our attention. They were quite the sight, sitting powerfully at the dock, ready for work. We spent some time observing the boats, speculating about their journeys and the tasks they performed.

The real highlight of Slade Point, in our opinion, was the charming lighthouse.

Standing proudly at the end of the point, its white structure and orange dome stood out against the clear blue sky. We are always drawn to these nautical landmarks, and this one was no exception. It provided a perfect photo opportunity. We are of the opinion that a coastal trip is never complete without a lighthouse sighting, and Slade Point certainly delivered. It's amazing how these structures become synonymous with the towns they help keep safe.

We found Slade Point a refreshing location, a place where the pace of life seemed to slow just enough to allow you to appreciate the simple pleasures of the coast. A lighthouse, a marina, and a scenic view – what more could one ask for?
