After the hubbub of Airlie Beach, we were ready for something a bit more…understated. And Gargett, Queensland, certainly provided that.

We settled into what can only be described as a generously sized field. It was surprisingly spacious, providing us with ample room to stretch our legs and enjoy the quiet. Two vans stood across the field, with the mountains looming in the background. The weather threatened rain, but it held off. The large open space was what we needed to recharge our batteries.
It was far enough from the main road to escape most of the noise. Although, we did observe some machinery moving about in the distance, but nothing too obtrusive.

From beneath our awning, we can see a vintage rail car sitting behind a fence. Beyond that sits the small township of Gargett. It's not a bustling metropolis, but that's what appeals to us about Gargett. We're sure there are a great many untold stories behind that vintage rail car.
Sometimes, the best travel experiences are found not in the grand destinations, but in the quiet, unassuming places where you can simply breathe and appreciate the vastness of this country. Gargett provided that for us.
