Today marked a travel day, moving further down the Queensland coast. Our route took us through the town of Bowen, a place we didn't have the opportunity to explore. While our schedule didn’t allow for an extended stay, our brief encounter certainly left a lasting impression.
One cannot simply pass through Bowen without acknowledging its... monumentality. We are, of course, referring to the Big Mango

. It’s a somewhat surreal experience, driving along and then BAM, a giant mango. It's a bold statement, and one that undoubtedly draws attention.
Beyond the oversized fruit, Bowen exuded a certain charm that piqued our interest. There was an air of relaxed coastal living, a sense of community that we found appealing. We even noticed a rather large... pumpkin

.
Our drive took us along the coastline, offering glimpses of pristine beaches and inviting waters. We took a short break to stretch our legs and take in the view. The beauty of Horseshoe Bay was particularly striking.

The calm, clear water and rocky headlands painted a picture of tranquillity. We vowed to ourselves that one day, we would return to Bowen and dedicate more time to fully appreciating its offerings. For now, however, onward to Airlie Beach!
