Our time in Townsville drew to a close with a serene morning spent on the water. It's a good thing we brought our trusty canoe along for this trip.

We always find that a bit of paddling does wonders for clearing the head before a travel day. It also provides a different perspective on the landscape than we often get.
We decided to launch from a spot just outside the city centre, where the water was calm and reflective. The surface was so smooth that the trees and hills were perfectly mirrored, creating an almost surreal effect. The air was still, and the only sounds were the gentle lapping of the water against the side of our vessel and the occasional call of a waterbird.
The waterway we chose was abundant with water lilies. They certainly added to the picturesque scene.

The vibrant green lily pads provided a stark contrast to the dark water, and the delicate purple flowers offered a pop of colour. We were quite taken by these beauties. We always appreciate it when nature puts on a show for us!
After a leisurely paddle, we reluctantly headed back to shore, knowing that packing up the caravan was next on the agenda.

It's always a bit of a chore to get everything stowed away neatly and securely, but we've become quite efficient at it over the years. We always find that a good system is absolutely essential when you live in a caravan, even if it does mean playing Tetris with our belongings. However, the prospect of the open road and a new destination certainly provided some motivation to get it done quickly. Onward to our next adventure!
