After enjoying the refreshing spray of a local waterfall, we decided a trip to the beach was in order to cool off completely. The Queensland humidity can be quite something, even for seasoned West Australians like ourselves.

The shoreline stretched out before us, inviting us for a paddle and a chance to simply relax and enjoy the scenery. We even did a bit of rock-hopping along some of the more interesting formations.

On the way, we found ourselves marvelling at the sheer scale of the agricultural industry. Banana plantations stretched as far as the eye could see, row upon row of lush, green trees.

Then there were the sugar cane trains, a somewhat archaic but undeniably effective way to transport the harvest. It still amuses us to see those narrow-gauge railways snaking across the landscape.

Of course, no trip past a roadside stall is complete without indulging in some local produce. We managed to snag a few finger bananas, those miniature versions that pack a surprisingly intense flavour. They truly were the best we've ever tasted.

There's just something about fresh, sun-ripened fruit that you simply can't replicate. We have consumed the bananas and it's on to the next destination.
