From the boulders, we made our way to Josephine Falls. Impressive, yes, they were.
The walk to the falls is reasonably short, a gentle incline through lush rainforest. One should, however, be prepared for the potential for slippery rocks – a common theme when water is involved.
The falls themselves cascade down a series of granite boulders, creating several pools. We observed several people taking a dip in the refreshing water, although the signs warning of flash flooding were enough to deter us from fully immersing ourselves. We are, after all, of a certain age, and prefer not to take unnecessary risks.
The sheer volume of water tumbling down the rocks is quite a sight. It's a testament to the power of nature and the relentless erosion that has shaped this landscape over millennia. The surrounding rainforest adds to the drama, providing a verdant backdrop to the spectacle. We took several pictures, naturally. One must document these moments, even if our photographic skills don’t always do justice to the scene.
We spent a pleasant couple of hours simply observing the falls and soaking up the atmosphere. It's these tranquil moments, surrounded by natural beauty, that we cherish most on our travels.
While we prefer our explorations in relative solitude, Josephine Falls is popular for good reason, and worth sharing with others. After all, who doesn't appreciate a good waterfall? We departed feeling refreshed and ready for the next leg of our journey, wherever that may lead.
