Reluctantly, we departed Port Douglas, knowing full well that we could easily have spent another week simply basking in its tropical charm. However, our itinerary, much like life, marches onward. So, southward we headed, intent on savouring every last drop of coastal scenery.

Our route became a series of strategic stops at various lookouts, each vying for the title of "Most Breathtaking Vista." We're not entirely sure which one won, but we certainly weren't complaining about the competition. The beaches, too, demanded our attention, each a siren call of sand and surf.

It's a good thing we allocated a fair bit of time for this section of the journey.

The final leg of the day saw us turn inland, trading the coastline for the cool embrace of the Atherton Tablelands.

The road became a writhing serpent of sharp bends and steep inclines, a stark contrast to the relatively flat terrain we had become accustomed to. Thankfully, our trusty vehicle handled the climb with aplomb.

We eventually arrived at our destination for the next several days: Kuranda caravan park. The air was noticeably cooler, and the thick canopy of trees overhead provided a welcome respite from the tropical sun.

It's a tranquil spot, ideal for recharging before we delve further into the rainforest. We anticipate spending our time exploring the various attractions Kuranda has to offer, hopefully without encountering any unwelcome surprises from the local wildlife. Time to relax and plan our attack.
