Today was decidedly less ramblin' and more...reclin' around the caravan. After a couple of days of solid travel and activity, we decided our bodies deserved a break. No museums, no historical sites, just a good old-fashioned day of relaxation.

The best-laid plans, as they say, are often disrupted by coconuts.

It seems a particularly enthusiastic coconut palm decided to gift us with several of its bounty. These green missiles landed with alarming thuds near our campsite, and, well, we couldn't resist. Fresh coconut sounded divine.

Our defeated foe...or maybe we were the defeated ones? A single, stubbornly-sealed coconut sits amongst our arsenal of tools.

What followed was less "tropical refreshment" and more "battle against nature." We employed every tool we could find – a small hatchet, a sturdy rock, even a rather blunt butter knife. The coconuts remained stubbornly sealed. We felt a little like we were wrestling particularly uncooperative watermelons.

There was a fair bit of huffing, puffing, and possibly some unladylike grunting involved (Lisa maintains it was all Steve, of course). Eventually, after a truly heroic effort, we managed to breach the defenses of one particularly resilient coconut.

The resulting coconut water? Refreshing, yes. Worth the effort? We're still debating that point. But at least we have a funny story (and slightly aching muscles).

Steve proudly displays the fruits (or rather, the coconut) of our labour after a truly epic battle.

The rest of the day was thankfully less strenuous. We settled into our camp chairs, read our respective books, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The only other noteworthy event was a particularly brazen kookaburra trying to steal a biscuit right off the table. They're bolder than the ones back in Western Australia, it seems.

Tomorrow, we’ll be back on the road, ready to explore more of what this vast country has to offer. Hopefully, our next adventure will be slightly less coconut-related.
