The transit from our previous location to Jabiru was a short affair, involving a fifty-kilometer journey down the road. We decided on a leisurely pace for the morning, eventually settling into the Lodge. This is the first time since our arrival in the Northern Territory that the environmental conditions have felt truly manageable. Although the thermometer indicates a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius, a consistent breeze has a remarkable effect on the overall comfort level.

Our designated area at the Lodge is situated beneath a canopy of established trees. The shade provided by these branches is an essential feature given the intensity of the sun in the Australian Outback.

The site itself is composed of healthy green grass, a welcome sight in this arid landscape. We have positioned ourselves to take full advantage of the surrounding foliage. The utility vehicle and the attached van are secure on the level ground, with the connections for power and water located within easy reach.

The Lodge facilities are designed to accommodate the tropical climate. There is a large, brick-paved outdoor patio area equipped with numerous tables and chairs. This space is bordered by thick tropical plants, creating a secluded environment for guests to congregate.

The most significant feature of the grounds is the swimming pool. It is equipped with a substantial green shade sail that covers nearly the entire surface of the water, preventing the sun from making the temperature of the pool unpleasant. At the far end, a rock waterfall feature provides the constant sound of moving water. We took advantage of the pool in the late afternoon, finding it to be an effective way to conclude the day.

The local fauna is quite active within the park boundaries. We observed a Straw-necked Ibis patrolling the grass near our site. The bird is highly efficient, using its long, curved beak to forage for insects among the blades of grass. It remained undisturbed by our presence as it moved across the lawn.

Our time in Jabiru has been intentionally quiet. Aside from the late swim and the short drive, we have focused on resting and enjoying the improved weather conditions.
